Ours Company History
Defino & Giancaspro company started operating in 1965 in Gravina in Puglia (in the province of Bari) – a town with a traditionally agricultural propensity located in the Murgia Plateau area -, thanks to a group of a young artisans and their knowledge of wheat’s production process, whose main activity at the time was the manual assembling of milling plants.
Over the years they travel through Italy and the all world manufacturing many industrial plants, even for big international corporations involved in the cereal milling industry. This enables them to acquire the right experience and to improve furthermore the qualitative level of their work.
Moved by passion for work and an increased experience, the group of artisans decided then to make a further step in quality creating in 1989 the Defino & Giancaspro s.r.l. company. Its operative headquarters was a little factory with ten employees and few machineries for the iron processing.
In the mid Nineties, the increased need for more hygiene requested in many step of the milling process leads to an augmented use of stainless steel in the manufacturing of pipes and machineries for mills.
We faced the challenge by enlarging our range of products with stainless steel parts like pipes, valves, connectors , machineries and more.
Today Defino & Giancaspro s.r.l. company is equipped with a plant of 7000 sq m on a total surface of 15000 sq m; it has more than 60 employees and cooperates with independent artisans. The plant is divided in technical divisions, each one responsible for laser cutting, folding, stainless steel, turning, assembling and so on.
Through the years the company has improved a lot achieving a high status of quality that will lead it in the near future to have a big role in the manufacturing of milling plants in the local, national and international market.

The company is headed by a Sole Director who coordinates all the divisions inside the plant on behalf of shareholders.
All are well aware that these different divisions must be in perfect coordination in order to achieve the main “goal”, i.e. the completion of the contract and the final customer satisfaction.
This coordination is achieved through professionals responsible for the departments’ cooperation and communication avoiding any lack of information.
Their work, as well as that of all our employees and managers, is closely based on the principles of quality and sustainability pursued for a long time by the company and got through international certifications like the UNI EN ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), 14001 (Environmental Quality System), 3834-2 (Quality Management Systems for Welding).
The company management has always paid special attention to the principles of legality in compliance with the regulations.
For this reason the Defino & Giancaspro company has also decided to become “Center of Transformation” (Italian Ministerial Decree January 14th, 2008 – Attestato di Denuncia N.601/10) and, therefore, PLANT FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF STEEL STRUCTURES.

The complete knowledge of the cereal industry is essential and the permanent innovation is not simply a way to better sell our products, but a real mission aimed to provide new methods for grain processing and to improve the quality of finished products.
Not surprisingly, the Defino & Giancaspro company has its roots in a land where the grain cultivation and sale, particularly the durum wheat, is one of the major revenue sources for local people, therefore a fine processing with a cutting edge technology is the basic need for the owners of local facilities.
The plant is designed and manufactured on customer needs, but always guaranteeing the state of the art of both production and assembly of our supplies.

The use of new management systems and working methods inevitably means that a number of the annual working hours of all workers are spent to their training.
The company uses both external educational institutes and the internal staff for training goals.
We believe that if the employee improves, the whole company improves as well.
Our Quality Policy
The DEFINO & Giancaspro S.r.l. company operates in the field of machining, particularly dealing with the design, manufacture and installation of milling plants, including carpentry and metal structures, providing a quality service support and maintenance to the Customer as well.
In such a highly competitive context, the constant technological innovation, combined with years of experience in this industrial sector and the ability to search for suitable solutions, represents for the DEFINO & Giancaspro S.r.l. company a key target and a winning strategy that has allowed it to be successful both nationally and internationally.
A never-ending market analysis and a constant attention to the customer needs have led the company to operate with remarkable care in its field, mostly focusing on the best effective use of technologies, experiences, plant solutions and carefully-selected materials.
Considering the customer satisfaction to be the highest goal, the company’s work has always focused to top quality for the profit of the customers themselves; this determination has led it to achieve the Quality Management System certification ISO 9001in conformity with international standards.

The achievement of these main objectives is monitored through continuous customer satisfaction surveys, complaint analysis and Internal Auditing.
In addition to these general ones, the Company has area objectives that are defined during the Quality Management System Review meetings, as part of the broader Integrated Management System (Quality, Environment, Safety).
Our Environmental Policy
The DEFINO & GIANCASPRO S.r.l. company operates in the field of machining, particularly dealing with the manufacture of milling plants, accessories or parts of them included, as well as their installation and maintenance.
In such a highly competitive context, the constant technological innovation, combined with years of experience in this industrial sector and the ability to search for suitable solutions, represents for the DEFINO & Giancaspro S.r.l. company a key target.
With these assumptions the company has decided to adopt an Environmental Management System in conformity to UNI EN ISO 14001:2004, constantly committing itself to a further production and company organization optimization, giving adequate attention to environmental issues.
In this document the company also defines the so-called “environmental objectives and targets” by providing, as part of its environmental management system, specific and appropriate management procedures in order to improve its environmental performance.
Therefore, the Company undertakes to respect the following principles:
